Develop a Tolerance for Revisiting Basic Assumptions

It is often the case that basic questions around purpose and effectiveness are brought up over and again during the course of the change program. You don’t want to continually revisit decisions unless changes in circumstances require them. However, I caution about cutting these conversations short. They form an integral part of the social construction required to achieve excellent results.

Allow members the opportunity to revisit basic assumptions in light of new developments and emerging insights. This is a far-reaching conversation when conducted among your change leaders.

The opportunity to meet and challenge core views can have a tremendous positive impact, including strategic reevaluation and a robust common understanding among your Most Valuable Players.

Strategic reevaluation occurs when well-informed people with relevant experience think together about the consequences of their work. If the emotional tone is constructive, tremendous value can emerge.
